UPDATE:

Choosing activities for people with Alzheimer's :

As Alzheimer's progresses, the primary caregiver may need to make other adjustments to the activity of the person they take care of. Use the following tips:

  1. Keep the person's skills and abilities in mind. Stick with activities the person has always enjoyed and adjust, as needed to match the person's abilities.

  2. Pay special attention to what the person enjoys.

  3. Consider if the person begins activities without direction. Does the patient set the table before dinner or sweep the kitchen floor mid-morning? If so, you may wish to plan these activities as part of your daily routine.

  4. Be aware of physical problems. Does the patient get tired quickly or have difficulty seeing, hearing, or performing simple movements?

  5. Focus on enjoyment, not achievement. Find activities that build on remaining skills and talents.

  6. Encourage involvement in daily life. Activities that help the person feel like a valued part of the household can provide a sense of success and accomplishment.

  7. Relate activity to work life.

  8. Look for favorites. The person who always enjoyed drinking coffee may still find this activity enjoyable.

  9. Consider the time of day.

  10. Adjust activities to disease stages. You may want to introduce more repetitive tasks. Be prepared for the person to eventually take a less active role in activities.

Testimonials

"It is with pleasure that I am writing this note of recommendation. Discovering Blue and Pink Angels Home Care Services has been a lifesaver for my wife and me, my Father, and our entire family. We knew we found the right agency immediately once we met Carol and Romeo.

Dad is 93 years old and mentally sharp but physically frail. You have provided us with a 24-hour caregiver named Gilbert. He is not only a skilled person but also a dedicated and caring individual. He has been with us 5 days a week and has played a major role in helping us keep our father safe and living in his own home. Your constant concern and advice are very comforting and we recommend you and your service to anyone in need. They will be extremely satisfied."                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Rich White

"Blue & Pink Angels Home Care Services was recommended by my Physical therapist and that was one of my best decisions. They took care of my husband's non-medical needs and then took care of me after my surgery later on. I am grateful to Carol and the rest of my caregivers, especially Ivora. Thank you."

"It is hard to express how blessed we have been to have the care and compassion from Blue & Pink Angels Home Care Services over the past 3 years to help take care of our ailing Mom. Carol stayed involved every step of the way. She helped us through the insurance process, managed and matched caregivers that met our needs, and showed true caring and compassion for our Mom. Miles, who was our 24/7 caregiver is truly an Angel! She not only helped my Mom with all her physical needs with immense competence and diligence, but perhaps even more importantly treated my mom with deep compassion, respect, incredible kindness, and unconditional love. She became a true friend and best companion for our Mom and all of us. She became part of our family and we will love her forever. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!"

                                                                                                                                                                      Terese Westberg

"My husband was diagnosed with early onset dementia at the age of 52 in 2014. I have hired individuals and agencies since then to help with his care. We have had many experiences with caregivers. Unfortunately, most of them have been negative. The worst experience happened when a diamond tennis bracelet, a gift from my husband, disappeared from our home. Many times, I came close to the brink of overwhelm in trying to be a caregiver, monitor other caregivers, continue raising or last child, and work outside of the home, while also being responsible for finances, home and auto care and all of the other responsibilities in solely running a family live.

In March of 2018, I hired Blue & Pink Angels  Home Care Services to provide a caregiver so that I could take a two-week vacation. Once I came home, I realized that it was time for a 24/7 live-in help to continue. By the grace of God, our family has been blessed with a caregiver, Roly, who is compassionate, calm, caring, loving, professional, intuitive, and has a passion for his chosen field. We consider him a part of our family and can't imagine life without him. We endorse Blue & Pink Angels wholeheartedly and recommend their excellent services. We give them five stars."

"Blue & Pink Angels Home Care listens to your needs and is quick to deliver. Romeo and Carol quickly came over and met up with us when we needed some help with our Aunt who has dementia. They listened attentively to what our personal needs were. Oh, let's not forget the follow-up, Carol made sure everything was ok, and if we needed anything else just let her know. Our caregiver, Ludy, was like family. She knew exactly how to fill our needs with our Aunt. She has always gone above and beyond what was expected. Thank you Blue & Pink Angels for the wonderful service with a heart."

"About six months ago, I was introduced to Blue & Pink Angels Home Care through a friend because I had a stroke and needs help since I was living by myself. They were able to help me live in my comfort zone trying my best to live independently with their help and guidance. Proud to say that now, I am back to living my normal life and was able to recover fully. Thank you Romeo, Carol, and Sheryl for all the help.
